Reuters: Immigration officials in Mexico's southern border state of Chiapas detained about 600 Central American migrants traveling northwards in a new caravan group, local media reported on Wednesday (November 21). According to reports, the group entered Mexico by crossing the Suchiate River separating the country with Guatemala. They were stopped by officials and asked to present themselves at a border point of entry with necessary documentation. Some migrants were put onto buses and transported to a local immigration office in Chiapas, whilst others went out on foot to register with officials. According to official estimates in Mexico, some 10,000 Central American migrants are expected to gather at the country's northern border as they look to cross into the United States.
