Met Department forecasts heavy rainfall in the North and East of the island

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology forecasted that owing to the low-pressure condition developing in the South-west of Sri Lanka that a rainfall of 150mm will be experienced in the North and East today (November 08). Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kmph can be expected over the island. Cold weather can be expected in the Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in most provinces of the island. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the accidents that could be caused due to lightning.
