Two arrested with 151.7kg of Kerala cannabis in northern seas

Colombo (News1st): Two people with 151.7kg of Kerala cannabis were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy yesterday (October 22). The arrest was made during a patrol carried out by a group of naval personnel attached to the Fast Attack Craft, Inshore Patrol Craft and the Special Boat Squadron. The suspects were arrested in the sea area about 02 nautical miles off Madagal. It is suspected that the attempt was to smuggle the haul of cannabis into the country from India. The suspects aged 29 and 19 are residents of Madagal in Jaffna. The suspects, the Kerala Cannabis and the boat have been handed over to Kankesanthurei Police.
