Colombo (News1st): During a media briefing convened by the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Qatar A.S.P. Liyanage journalists questioned him about carrying bags of the former president's children. Responding to this the Ambassador said that corruption charges levelled against the former President's children do not matter to him, adding that he would do the same for any Sri Lankan who comes to Qatar. Former North Western Provincial Councilor Namala Karunaratne speaking in this regard said that an ambassador of the state is an honourable character that represents the country and A.S.P. Liyanage the ambassador to Qatar was carrying the bags of Rohitha Rajapaksa and Namal Rajapaksa like a porter. Karunaratne reminded the public that these two individuals had been summoned before courts and cases are still being heard against them. He added that it would have been alright if the person was just known as Liyanage, but this was done fitting behaviour for a Sri Lankan diplomat posted overseas.
