COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Criminal Investigation Department stated that they would seek international assistance to investigate into the incident where certain parts of the telephone conversation said to have taken place between DIG Nalaka De Silva and the Director of the Anti-Corruption Movement Operations Namal Kumara, have been damaged. A senior official of the Department said this decision was reached following discussions with the Government analyst as the technology in Sri Lanka is not capable enough to carry out such investigations. The official added that the country to which the investigation will be handed over to has not been decided yet. He added that the decision will be reached within the coming week. Allegations have been levelled against DIG Nalaka De Silva and Namal Kumara for conspiring to assassinate the Head of State and the Former Secretary of Defense Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The government's analysts report on the telephone conversation recordings were handed over by the CID to the Fort Magistrate Court on the 9th of this month. DIG Nalaka De Silva who was in charge of the Terrorism Investigation Division and the Director of the Anti-Corruption Movement Operations, Namal Kumara have been barred from traveling overseas without prior approval from courts.
