COLOMBO (News 1st) - Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake announced today thatParliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake cannot be named as a suspect in the case filed against him for committing perjury based on the evidence placed before courts. However, the Chief Magistrate ordered the CID to continue its investigations against MP Ravi Karunanayake.
The Chief Magistrate said the CID is permitted to secure the reports from the Board of Directors of the company that is said to be owned by Ravi Karunanayake and continue investigations.
The CID was ordered to produce a progress report on the investigation on the 22nd of October.
The case filed against MP Ravi Karunanayake was for committing perjury during the proceedings of the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate the Central Bank Treasury Bond Scam.
