Colombo (News 1st) - Former Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, expressed his views on the country's economy in Parliament today (September 20).
He states that it is pointless having a government or a central bank in a country if global economic issues are allowed to take complete control over the economy of a country.
He then stated that the individuals who brought the economy down into negative values during the initial years of 2000 are in control of the Finance Ministry at present. He stated that Chandrika Kumaratunga and many others turned the economy in a negative direction back then and they are the people holding on to the economy now.
MP Ravi Karunanayake further states that the government is portraying them as terrorists within the government that they created.
He goes on stating that the requirement at present is to discuss how the economy can be fixed. And he notes that this cannot be done with the opposition blaming the government and vice versa.
