Reuters - British actress Vanessa Redgrave received a Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement award at the 75th Venice Film Festival opening ceremony on Wednesday evening (August 29).
Dubbed by her nickname, "the lioness" in the festival's programme, Redgrave was handed her very own golden lioness by the festival's president Paolo Baratta to an enthusiastic audience applause.
Thanking all the creative people she has encountered throughout her sixty-year career, as well as her family, Redgrave did admit to wanting to achieve another life goal: meeting American author Donna Leon.
Leon has penned a series of crime novels set in Venice, Italy featuring the fictional hero Commissario Guido Brunetti.
Redgrave received another top Venice prize in 1994, the Coppa Volpi, for her role in James Gray's "Little Odessa".
The 75th Venice Film Festival runs from Aug. 29 to Sept. 8.
