COLOMBO (News 1st) - Five Brigadiers and 25 Lieutenant Colonels of the Sri Lanka Army have been promoted by President Maithripala Sirisena.
Army Spokesman Brigadier Sumith Atapattu said the 5 Brigadiers were promoted to the post of Major General and the 25 Lieutenant Colonels were elevated to the post of Colonel. Four out of the five brigadiers that were promoted sustained serious injuries during the war.
Among them are D.G.I.P. Gamage of the Sri Lanka Gajaba regiment, Rajeewa Wickramasinghe of the Singha regiment, J.R. Ampemohotti of the Sri Lanka light infantry regiment and W.H.M. Manathunga of the Gemunu Watch
V.A.T.N. Dematanpitiya who is in active service is also among the Brigadiers who were promoted.
