State sector is wasting public funds - Min. Amunugama

Colombo (News1st) - Dr. Sarath Amunugama, the Minister of Science & Technology says public money is being wasted and it needs to be investigated. Speaking at an event in Colombo on Sunday (Aug 26th) the Minister noted that a large sum of public funds are being wasted in the state sector due to inefficiency, incompetence and lack of basic management skills. The Minister stated that the state sector must be investigated to find out why waste takes place. Amunugama believes that experiments need to be conducted on how inefficient state corporations could be improved to bring them up to at least moderate efficiency. This according to the Minister is a tough challenge. The minister concluded by stating that this challenge must be taken up by business schools and that they should look at how to challenge incompetence, mismanagement and corruption.
