Previous regime forced people out of their lands - Min. Kabir Hashim

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Kegalle District MP, Minister Kabir Hashim engaged in an inspection tour of the Kegalle town today to look into the development activities in the area. Governor of the Central Province Niluka Ekanayake also joined the Minister on the inspection. Addressing the area residents afterwards, Minister Kabir Hashim stated that the current Government is continuing to pay for the sins of the previous administration. Hashim noted that back when President Mahinda Rajapaksa was the minister of road development, people were forced out of their lands by Gotabaya Rajapaksa, when roads were being expanded, and that no compensation was paid to these people. Hashim noted that as a result of this, around Rs 2bn had to be paid as compensation for the activities of the previous administration. The Minister noted that the Government has paid off most of this money adding that they have to pay around Rs 500mn more. While noting that the people who committed these sins ar enow acting innocent the minister noted that they have been forced to bear the sins of the past.
