COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Maithripala Sirisena said the curfew imposed in the Kandy administrative district will be lifted at 10 a.m. and reimposed at 6 p.m. today, March 8th.
Hence the curfew will be in effect for twelve hours, starting from 6 p.m.
The Department of Government Information confirms that the order of the President Sirisena has already been sent to IGP Pujith Jayasundara.
The Department of Government Information states the decision to lift the curfew at 10 a.m. was taken by the president to allow the public time to purchase necessities and other requirements. They request the public to use the lifted curfew window for the purpose it is intended for.
