COLOMBO (News1st): The latest weather advisory issued by the Met Department states that five districts have been affected by dry weather.
Over 300,000 persons have been affected due to the absence of rainfall.
Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Puttalam, Mannar and Kurunegala have been cited as districts which are severely affected by the prevalent drought.
Meanwhile, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board says the supply of water has to be limited due the dry weather conditions in the areas.
The Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili says over 200 bowsers of water have been distributed to the affected areas to relieve the harsh effects of the prevailing drought.
