Man Gets Life Sentence For 24g Heroin Possession

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Colombo High Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of possessing and trafficking 24 grammes of heroin.

The verdict was delivered by Colombo High Court Judge Buddhika C. Ragala following a lengthy trial.

The accused was arrested in 2022 with 24 grammes of heroin during a police raid in the Mutuwal area of Colombo.

The Attorney General subsequently filed indictments against him.

Delivering the verdict, the judge stated that the prosecution had proven the charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt.

Accordingly, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
