COLOMBO (News 1st); A new chapter in relations between Sri Lanka and Türkiye took shape in Ankara on Tuesday (27), as the two nations signed an amended air transport agreement aimed at expanding connectivity and unlocking fresh opportunities in tourism, trade and investment.

The protocol amending the existing Air Transport Agreement was signed by Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arun Hemachandra together with Enver İskurt, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye.

Beyond aviation, the agreement reflects a broader ambition to bring the two nations closer together through stronger economic and people-to-people links.

Improved air connectivity is expected to create new opportunities for travellers, businesses and investors, while making it easier for citizens of both countries to engage in tourism, commerce and cultural exchange.
