Shiranthi Rajapaksa Further Remanded

COLOMBO (News 1st): Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has been further remanded until October 16 in connection with an ongoing corruption case filed against her.

Shiranthi Rajapaksa is the wife of Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The order was issued when the case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama this afternoon.

The case has been filed over allegations that Shiranthi Rajapaksa obtained Rs. 10 million from a state-owned bank and subsequently misused those funds, resulting in charges under corruption laws and the Public Property Act.
