COLOMBO (News 1st): The government has decided to seek the Attorney General’s advice on the agreements signed with private companies engaged in fuel operations.
Minister of Energy Anura Karunathilaka said the advice would focus on the measures that could be taken if the companies fail to fulfil their operational obligations.
The Minister said Lanka IOC had slightly increased its fuel distribution compared to the levels recorded in recent days.
However, he noted that Sinopec and RM Parks had yet to increase their fuel distribution.
Minister Karunathilaka recently told Parliament that action would be taken under the Petroleum Products Act and the powers vested in the Ministry if private fuel suppliers restrict fuel distribution.
