Budget 2027: Appropriation Bill To Be Presented to Parliament

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The 2027 Appropriation Bill, setting out the government’s proposed expenditure for next year, will be presented to Parliament today.

The Bill, which was recently gazetted, estimates total government expenditure at Rs. 4,992.77 billion for 2027.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, will deliver the 2027 Budget Speech on November 12, marking the Second Reading of the Bill.

The Second Reading debate is scheduled for November 13 to 20, with the vote set for 6:00 p.m. on November 20.

The Third Reading debate will follow from November 21 to December 14, with the final vote scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on December 14.
