Over 2,339 Kg of Heroin Seized in 2026

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler says more than 2,339 kilograms of heroin have been seized during police operations so far this year.

He made the statement while addressing a press conference held at the “A Nation United” National Operation Centre.

Meanwhile, ASP F. U. Wootler said 9,105 children and youth have been arrested during the 11-month “A Nation United” national operation.

Of those arrested, 8,932 are young men and 173 are young women.

He said the arrests were made between the launch of the “A Nation United” operation on October 30, 2025, and October 1, 2026.

The Police Media Spokesperson also said 11 children between the ages of 8 and 14 had been arrested under the operation.

He urged the public to report any information related to narcotics by calling the 1818 hotline.
