Pilot Project For Driver Demerit Points System Commences Today (01)

COLOMBO (News 1st): The pilot project to introduce a driver demerit points system for traffic violations will commence today (01).

The pilot project will be implemented until March next year.

The Ministry of Digital Economy said no actual deduction of points will take place during the pilot phase, while drivers will be educated on how the system works.

The Ministry said points will be deducted based on the severity of traffic violations committed by drivers.
