22nd Constitutional Amendment Passes Parliament With Overwhelming Majority

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Second Reading of the 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill was approved in Parliament today with a decisive majority.
A total of 158 Members of Parliament voted in favour of the Bill, while 63 voted against it. There were no abstentions.
The vote followed a two-day parliamentary debate on the proposed amendment, which seeks to extend the retirement age of judges of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal by two years.
