India–Sri Lanka Step Up Joint Efforts to Curb Cross-Border Drug Trafficking

COLOMBO (News1st);A group of police officers, including the Director General of India's Narcotics Control Bureau, will be arriving in the island today.

A senior police officer stated that the purpose of the visit is to take necessary measures to curb cross-border drug trafficking between the two countries.

They are also scheduled to hold a program in Colombo with the Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya.

Concurrently, training will be provided to police officers handling drug-related matters in both countries.

Under this initiative, steps will be taken to expand opportunities for intelligence sharing between the two nations and to formulate a joint action plan to eradicate the drug menace in the country.
