Thai Trio Arrested with Over 7kg of Drugs at BIA

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Three Thai women were arrested with a large quantity of drugs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake early this morning (20).

Police said the three women, who had arrived from Bangkok, were found with more than 7kg of drugs in their possession.

One of the women, aged 38, was arrested while arriving in Sri Lanka with 3kg and 220g of kush and 1kg and 852g of hashish in her possession.

Another woman was arrested with 1kg and 994g of kush and 620g of hashish in her possession.

Third woman, who had allegedly assisted and supported to smuggle drugs, was also arrested.

The women are reportedly in their 30s.

The Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting further investigations.
