Ex-NTC Chairman Renuka Perera Arrested By CIABOC

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former National Transport Commission Chairman Renuka Perera has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over allegations of corruption linked to the issuance of passenger transport permits for the Southern Expressway.

According to investigators, the former chairman is accused of causing a financial loss to the State by issuing 56 passenger service permits for the Southern Expressway outside the legally prescribed procedure and without collecting the annual fees in a single payment as required.

The suspect is expected to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, where further legal proceedings are scheduled to take place.
