IMF Delegation Lands in Colombo, Begins Economic Discussions

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation has arrived in Sri Lanka and has already commenced discussions with local authorities as part of a key mission to assess the country's ongoing economic reform programme.

Last week, Evan Papageorgiou, the IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, announced that the IMF country team would visit Sri Lanka from September 10 to September 23 to conduct discussions on the Seventh Review of Sri Lanka's reform programme supported by the IMF's Extended Fund Facility (EFF), as well as the 2026 Article IV Consultation.

According to the IMF, the mission will engage with Sri Lankan authorities and a broad range of stakeholders during the two-week visit to discuss recent economic developments, the progress of the reform agenda, and key structural issues that could influence the country's long-term growth prospects.

The IMF has stated that it looks forward to constructive discussions with stakeholders and will share its findings upon the conclusion of the mission.
