Sri Lanka, UN Discuss Priorities for Upcoming UN General Assembly

COLOMBO (News 1st); A discussion on Sri Lanka's priorities for the upcoming 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly took place Monday (7) when United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Marc-André Franche met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath.

According to Minister Herath, discussions focused on matters relevant to the forthcoming 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and Sri Lanka's priorities within that process.

The meeting also reviewed Sri Lanka's longstanding partnership with the United Nations, which spans more than seven decades.

Attention was further directed towards the UN80 process, the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), and Sri Lanka's Third Voluntary National Review on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Minister Herath reaffirmed Sri Lanka's commitment to continued engagement with the United Nations and the broader multilateral system.
