COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Salley will be held for a further 90-days under a fresh detention order.

The latest detention order was obtained following the expiry of the previous 90-day detention period that had been granted in connection with ongoing investigations.

Salley was taken into custody for questioning as part of investigations relating to the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, one of the deadliest incidents in Sri Lanka's history.

Although a 90-day detention order had previously been issued, authorities said Sallay has spent 78 days receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital during the period of detention.
