Anawilundawa Ramsar Wetland Fire Brought Under Control

COLOMBO (News1st); The Ministry of Environment states that the fire that broke out at the Anawilundawa Ramsar Wetland has now been brought under control.

The Ministry stated that a special joint operation was carried out by wildlife officers, the tri-forces, disaster management officials, the Divisional Secretariat, and local residents to control the fire.

Air Force helicopters were also deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire.

The Ministry of Environment stated that approximately 7 acres have been damaged by the fire.
