COLOMBO (News 1st) - Nine Indian fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy for engaging in fishing activities, violating Sri Lanka’s maritime boundaries.
The arrests were made during an operation conducted off the Urumalai Point in Talaimannar.
The fishermen were arrested while fishing along with a vessel violating international maritime boundary and using fishing methods harmful to the environment.
The arrested fishermen and the vessel are due to be handed over to the Mannar Fisheries Inspector for further legal action.
