25-Year-Old Arrested Over Dehiwala Cemetery Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The motorcyclist allegedly involved in shooting and seriously injuring a security personnel at the Nisala Sevana Public Cemetery in Dehiwala has been arrested with narcotics in the Delkanda area.

Police said the suspect is a 25-year-old resident of Attidiya.

During interrogations, it was revealed that the shooting was allegedly carried out under the direction of an organized criminal figure currently residing overseas.

Police said three mobile phones allegedly used by the suspect, Rs. 55,000 from the Rs. 200,000 allegedly given to him for committing the crime, and 7g and 200mg of Ice or crystal methamphetamine were taken into police custody.

On the 19th, two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle shot and injured the person working as the security guard at the Dehiwala Public Cemetery before fleeing the scene.
