Hot Weather Expected to Intensify Next Month, Met Department Warns

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology says hot weather conditions are likely to further intensify next month. 

Director General of the Department, Ajith Wijewickrama, stated that the El Niño condition is developing from a weak level to a moderate level. 

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory notice stating that the heat index today is at a "caution" level in the Eastern Province and the districts of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota, and Monaragala during the daytime. 

The Department of Meteorology is advising the public to remain vigilant regarding the conditions.
