Feud Between 'Borella Roshan' and 'Parawi Suda' Gangs Turns Deadly

COLOMBO (News 1st); Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in the Palliyawatta area of Wattala, as police continue investigations into what they believe was a clash between rival organized crime and narcotics trafficking groups.

Police said the suspects were taken into custody for allegedly aiding and abetting those involved in the killing.

The arrested group includes one woman and three men.

According to police, the shooting is believed to have been the result of an ongoing conflict between two rival factions involved in drug trafficking and organized crime activities.

Investigators identified the groups as those allegedly linked to underworld figures known as "Borella Roshan" and "Parawi Suda".

Police Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler stated that the 39-year-old man who was killed in the shooting was also believed to have been involved in narcotics trafficking.

The shooting took place during a birthday celebration held at a hotel in the Palliyawatta area of Wattala on Thursday (23) night.

Police said a group that arrived in a motor vehicle opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects was discovered abandoned on a road near the Ja-Ela Police Station this morning.
