COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Deputy Minister of Labour, Mahinda Jayasinghe, says a special inspection will be carried out to determine whether factories across Sri Lanka are operating under adequate safety standards.
The decision has been taken due to the factory fires reported recently, including the recent blaze at the safety helmet manufacturing factory in Katuwana, Homagama.
According to the Deputy Minister all factories will first be classified by category prior to the inspections.
