43 Military Rounds Found Near Hurulu Wewa Bathing Site

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police have recovered 43 unusable foreign-manufactured military rounds from an area near a bathing site frequently used by residents in the Hurulu Wewa area of Galenbindunuwewa.

The Galenbindunuwewa Police said the ammunition was discovered during a search operation launched following information received through the Police Emergency Hotline.

Investigators noted that this is the third occasion on which ammunition has been found at the same location. 

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, Kalpitiya Police seized a stock of narcotic pills and beedi leaves from a house in the Janasawipura area of Kalpitiya.

Police said the estimated value of the seized contraband exceeds Rs. 10 million.

The raid was carried out based on information provided by members of the public.
