Nearly 400 Suspects Remanded Daily Amid Severe Prison Overcrowding

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Prisons states that nearly four hundred suspects are remanded daily.

The department noted that the capacity at prisons currently stands at thirty thousand. 

However, the department reports that there are currently nearly forty thousand inmates being held in prisons.
