Ayurvedic Oil Scam: Woman Posing as Doctor Dupes Victims of Millions

COLOMBO (News 1st); A woman who allegedly posed as an Ayurvedic doctor and defrauded over Rs. 50 million has been arrested in the Horana area.

Police stated that she had deceived multiple individuals by claiming that she imported Ayurvedic oil products from India.

In addition, police revealed that she had obtained vehicles on a rental basis and pawned them to secure money.

Police further stated that she had fraudulently obtained Rs. 32.8 million from individuals, claiming the funds were needed to release imported oil consignments from the port.

The suspect arrested is a 52-year-old woman residing in Kurunegala.

Police also stated that she had been temporarily staying in the Horana area.
