COLOMBO (News 1st); The bodies of 5 victims who died in the fire at the Care home in Batagoda, Anguruwatota have been handed over to their relatives.
Police said that the bodies were handed over to the relatives following the post-mortem examinations conducted at the Horana Hospital.
The Post- Mortem Examination of three more victims are scheduled to be performed today.
Police further said that the final rites of the victims will be performed at the state expense after 14 days.
However, the Government Analyst's report and the Electricity Board's report related to the incident have not been released yet
Among the injured, three are currently receiving treatment at the Horana Hospital, with one undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Two others have been discharged after receiving treatment.
Thirteen (13) people tragically lost their lives and five others were injured in the fire that broke out on the 3rd of June
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.
It has also been revealed that the care home had been operated without proper registration.
Meanwhile, the director of the care home was arrested and placed under remand custody.
