COLOMBO (News 1st); A luxury bus service operating between Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake and the Makumbura Multi-Modal Transport Centre has officially resumed service from today (1).
The service has been reintroduced with the aim of offering efficient, comfortable, and safe transportation options for both local and international travellers using the country’s main airport.
The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development and the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, with operations jointly managed by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) and the National Transport Commission.
The relaunched service is expected to significantly improve connectivity for passengers arriving at and departing from the airport, enabling seamless travel between Katunayake and the key transport hub in Makumbura.
The fare for the journey has been set at Rs. 410, with an estimated travel time of approximately 50 minutes.
Buses will operate at 45-minute intervals, running daily from 5:15 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., ensuring regular and reliable service throughout the day.
