Weather Advisory Issued For Strong Winds And Rough Seas

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology says that showers exceeding 50 mm, will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 pm.

Meanwhile, the Met Department has issued an advisory for Strong Winds and Rough Seas. 

According to the advisory, the sea areas extending from Mullaittivu to Chilaw via Kankasanthurai and Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be very rough at times with strong gusty winds up to (60-65) kmph.

The naval and fishing communities who are engaged in fishing and naval activities in the above sea areas are requested to be vigilant in this regard.

The general public is also kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
