Court Issues Arrest Warrant Against Basil Rajapaksa Over Brown Hill Case

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Matara Magistrate’s Court today (22) issued a warrant for the arrest of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa in connection with the Brown Hill case.

The order was issued when the case was taken up before Matara Magistrate Chathura Dissanayake. During the proceedings, lawyers appearing on behalf of Rajapaksa presented submissions relating to his health condition.

However, the Magistrate rejected those submissions and proceeded to issue the warrant for his arrest.

The case has been filed against Basil Rajapaksa and several others, including his wife’s sister Ayoma Galappaththi and her husband Tissa Galappaththi.

It relates to allegations that a plot of land in the Brown Hill area in Matara was purchased using misappropriated funds.
