National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony to Be Held Today in Battaramulla

COLOMBO (News 1st): The "National Victory Day Commemoration ceremony" will be held today to mark the 17th anniversary of the war victory.

It will take place at the War Heroes Monument in Battaramulla under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with National War Heroes Commemoration Day, official promotions will be granted to 5,289 war heroes today.

This is being done in accordance with the recommendations of the respective military commanders and the established administrative procedures of the tri-forces.

Meanwhile, police state that a special security plan is in place in conjunction with the National Victory Day Commemoration ceremony.

Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler stated that a team comprising the police, tri-forces, and intelligence agencies has been deployed for security.

Additionally, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Traffic and Road Safety, W.P.J. Senadheera, stated that a special traffic plan will be in effect in view of the National Victory Day Commemoration ceremony.
