COLOMBO (News 1st); The Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court today (14) ordered that former Member of Parliament Chandana Kathriarachchi be remanded until May 27 over charges related to the possession of weapons and ammunition.
Kathriarachchi was arrested on the 16th of last month by officers of the Colombo Crimes Division while allegedly in possession of two T-56 magazines, 221 rounds of ammunition, and a hand grenade.
Following his arrest, the former MP was detained and questioned before being produced in court today.
Kathriarachchi last entered Parliament representing the United People’s Freedom Alliance and contested the most recent general election from the Colombo District under the New Democratic Front.
