COLOMBO (News 1st); Fresh details have emerged regarding the death of former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena, with police investigations revealing that the belt allegedly used in the incident had been brought from his residence by an employee.
The information surfaced during ongoing investigations conducted by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police have so far recorded statements from nearly 15 individuals in connection with the case, including former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva.
Investigators have also uncovered that Chandrasena had participated in a discussion with lawyers on the day prior to his death.
Police confirmed that further examinations are underway into security camera footage from the Kollupitiya residence where his body was discovered.
Kapila Chandrasena, the former CEO of SriLankan Airlines, who had faced allegations of accepting a bribe amounting to two million US dollars in connection with an Airbus aircraft procurement deal, was found dead last Friday.
His body was discovered at the Kollupitiya Fifth Lane residence of a relative on the same day.
Meanwhile, the final rites of former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena were held yesterday (10) evening at the Borella General Cemetery.
