Report Called on Viral Video of a Celebration at Galle Prison

COLOMBO (News 1st) -The Department of Prisons says that a report has been called regarding a video circulating on social media which appears to show inmates holding a birthday party inside the Galle Prison.

Prisons Spokesperson and Commissioner of Prisons, A.C. Gajanayake stated that the Superintendent of the Galle Prison has been instructed to promptly investigate the timeframe of the incident to determine when exactly the event took place and submit a report.

The video reportedly depicts the birthday celebration of an individual called Namal alias 'Podiya', who is said to be a close associate of the notorious underworld figure 'Ahungalle Loku Patty'.

Prisons Spokesperson noted that many of the inmates seen in the video have already been released on bail.
