President Anura Kumara Officially Welcomes Maldivian President in Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Monday (04) officially welcomed Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office in Colombo.

A guard of honour was accorded to the visiting Head of State by the Sri Lankan military. Prior to the official reception, President Muizzu was escorted to the President’s Office in a special motorcade.

At the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday afternoon (03), commencing a two-day state visit.

The visit coincides with the 61st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Maldives. This visit marks President Muizzu’s first official visit to Sri Lanka since assuming office in 2023.

During the visit, President Muizzu is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Dissanayake aimed at further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Several Memoranda of Understanding are also expected to be signed, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

President Muizzu and his delegation are also scheduled to participate in a special business forum in Colombo.

The Maldivian President is accompanied by First Lady Sajida Mohamed, the Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, several senior Cabinet ministers, and high-ranking officials.
