COLOMBO (News 1st); The Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) has unveiled a powerhouse Executive Committee (ExCo) for 2026-2028, with Asia-Pacific broadcasters seizing the spotlight in a seismic shift for global media governance, according to the Association for International Broadcasting..

At the helm from the region is Ahmet Görmez, Chair of the ABU News Group and Deputy Director General at Turkey's TRT. Görmez sailed into the role via an uncontested nomination, armed with decades of grit in international journalism and frontline conflict reporting. His entry marks the AIB's bold debut of a staggered election system – a savvy move designed to lock in leadership stability amid rapid industry upheavals.

Flanking him are two ABU heavyweights extending their influence: Nesryn Bouziane, Vice-Chair of the ABU News Group and Lead of International Broadcast and Digital Services at Australia's ABC, whose term stretches to March 2027. Bouziane's continuity promises to keep Asia-Pacific priorities front and center as the AIB navigates its governance evolution.

Rounding out the regional trio is Craig Dale, Chief Editor at Singapore's CNA (Mediacorp), also serving through March 2027. Dale's deep editorial chops and vantage point at one of Southeast Asia's top news hubs will inject fresh insights into digital broadcasting's fast-changing terrain.

For the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), this triple-threat representation, Görmez, Bouziane, and Dale, signals the region's unbreakable clout in steering international media's future.
