Ministry of Education to Develop School Playgrounds Across All Districts

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Education has taken steps to launch a program aimed at developing playgrounds in 25 selected schools across the 25 districts of the island.

Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Madhura Seneviratne, stated that these playgrounds will be developed to standard specifications, including the construction of 400-meter running tracks.

Accordoing to Deputy Minister Madhura Seneviratne, the project aims to develop playgrounds - especially playgrounds with 400m running tracks as it has come to notice the lack of 400m running tracks in most schools outside Colombo. 

Accordingly, one National School and three provincial schools will be selected for this purpose from every district. 

Additionally Madhura Seneviratne also stated that these playgrounds will be developed according to standard specifications with adequate infrastructure and maintainence facilities along with the assistance from the Ministry of Sports.
