From the U.S. to Sri Lanka: Monks to Begin Global Walk for Peace in the Island

COLOMBO (News 1st) - After trekking 2,300km across the United States for the famous Walk for Peace, a dedicated group of monks has officially departed the U.S. for their next destination - Sri Lanka.

The monks are scheduled to touch down on the island on the 21st of April. This marks the beginning of a spiritual chapter titled: "A Global Walk for Peace in the Island of Peace, Sri Lanka."

The activities of the Peace Walk will commence on April 22nd after seeking blessings at the historic Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. 

A sapling of the Sri Maha Bodhi, obtained through the blessings of the Maha Sangha led by the Atamasthanadhipathi, is also scheduled to be carried during this march.
