Special Islandwide Security Program for Festive Season

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Defence has announced the implementation of a special security program for the New Year season to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the public.

This initiative is being carried out under the guidance of Defense Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha. 

The program will be jointly led by the tri-forces, the Sri Lanka Police, and intelligence units.

As part of the operation, security arrangements will be strengthened across the island, with close monitoring of festivals, musical events, and religious programs during the holiday period.

A dedicated operations room has been established at the Police Headquarters in Colombo to support these efforts. This facility will function as a joint operations center, coordinated by officers representing the tri-forces.
