Afternoon Thundershowers Expected in Several Provinces Today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology says rain or thundershowers in several parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces could occur after 2:00 PM today.

Showers are expected in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Mannar districts. 

MET officials urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize risks from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The MET department noted that dry weather conditions will likely prevail across the rest of the island as well.

The sun will be directly overhead today at 12:12 PM in Chilaw, Bingiriya, Halmillawewa, Panduwasnuwara, Gokarella, Kaudupalella, Koppaveli and Kirankulam.
